Webster Technique Chiropractor in Lafayette, CO

If someone told you to find a Webster certified chiropractor

Usually it is a midwife, a doula, a birth class, or a friend who had a hard first labor and a much easier second one. Somebody said the words "Webster technique" and now you are trying to work out who near you actually does it.

Dr. Michelle Green is Webster certified through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, and is listed in their directory of certified practitioners. She has also completed the ICPA's 80-hour perinatal certification.

What the Webster Technique actually is

It is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment of the sacrum and pelvis, developed for pregnancy.

Picture a hot air balloon tethered to its basket by four ropes. If one of those ropes gets pulled tight, the balloon does not hold its shape. It pulls out of round, and the space inside changes.

Your uterus is held in place by ligaments that attach to your pelvis. When the pelvis is out of balance, those ligaments pull unevenly, and the shape of the space inside changes with it.

Balancing the pelvis lets those ropes even out again.

That is it. A gentle, specific adjustment, not a procedure, and it takes minutes.

You can read more about how prenatal care works through each trimester on our pregnancy page.

If you came here because of pain rather than positioning, our page on pelvic pain in pregnancy covers pelvic girdle pain, SPD, round ligament pain and sciatica separately.

What it is not

Webster is not a technique for turning breech babies.

This gets said a lot and it is worth being clear about, because it changes what you should expect.

The adjustment works on your pelvis, not on your baby. Nobody is pushing on your belly and nobody is manually repositioning anything. What balancing the pelvis does is reduce uneven tension in the ligaments and soft tissue around the uterus.

For your baby, that is like the difference between a one-bedroom apartment and somewhere with plenty of room to move, like a luxury apartment.

Babies often do move. What moved them was your baby, in the space your body made available. That is a meaningful difference, and any practitioner telling you they can turn your baby is practicing outside of their scope.

How to check a chiropractor is actually Webster certified

Anyone can say they use the Webster technique. Certification is a specific thing and it is checkable.

Webster certification is issued by the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, and the ICPA maintains a public directory of certified practitioners. If a chiropractor tells you they are Webster certified, you can look them up.

That applies here too. Look us up.

When to start

You can begin at any point in pregnancy, and

earlier gives your body more time to adapt.

Many people start in the second trimester, when posture

shifts and the pelvis is taking on new load. Plenty start

in the third, often after being told the baby is not in an

ideal position, and that is still worth doing.

If you are already close to your due date, come anyway. Care in late pregnancy focuses on pelvic balance and comfort as your body prepares for labor, and there is no point at which it becomes too late to be more comfortable.

What a visit actually involves

Your first visit is a consultation and an exam, including nervous system scans, so you have a baseline rather than a guess.

The Webster analysis itself looks at how your sacrum and pelvis are moving and where tension is sitting. The adjustment is gentle and specific. You stay fully clothed, and the table and positioning are set up for a pregnant body.

There is no cracking, no popping, and no forceful twisting at any point.

Webster technique questions, answered

What is the Webster Technique in chiropractic?

It is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment of the sacrum and pelvis, developed for pregnancy. The goal is pelvic balance: reducing uneven tension in the ligaments and soft tissue supporting the uterus so your body is under less strain and your baby has more room.

Does the Webster Technique turn a breech baby?

No. The adjustment works on your pelvis, not on your baby. What it does is reduce uneven tension so there is more room for your baby to move. Babies often do move, but what moved them was your baby. Any practitioner who tells you they can turn your baby is practicing outside of their scope.

What is the success rate of the Webster Technique?

Success rate is the wrong measure, because Webster is not a procedure for turning babies. What it is measured on is pelvic balance and comfort. Most people report feeling more comfortable and moving more easily, and many find labor goes better than they expected. Nobody can promise you a particular birth.

How do I know if a chiropractor is really Webster certified?

Certification is issued by the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, and the ICPA keeps a public directory of certified practitioners. Look them up. Dr. Michelle Green is listed there.

When should I start Webster technique care?

Any point in pregnancy. Earlier gives your body more time to adapt, and many people begin in the second trimester. Starting in the third trimester is still worthwhile, including close to your due date.

Is it safe during pregnancy?

Yes. Care is low-force with pregnancy-safe positioning and no cracking or twisting. Webster certification is specifically training in working with a pregnant body.

Do you accept insurance?

We are a cash based practice, which means your care stays focused on what actually helps you, not on what an insurance plan will approve. Many patients use their HSA or FSA, and we are happy to provide a superbill you can submit for possible reimbursement. You can also review our Good Faith Estimate for clear pricing before your first visit.
